“idea BUILDERS™” Grant Program

The “idea BUILDERS™” conference grant program provides financial assistance for conferences in the Nation's Capital. This program will provide cash and/or in-kind cost reductions totalling up to $10,000 to eligible conferences taking place at the OCC between April 2012 and April 2013. The goal of the program is to help individuals and organizations hold conferences that promote discussions on important and timely issues affecting Canadians. Apply for your grant today and watch your ideas take root at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
The deadline to apply is April 30, 2012.

WE WELCOME APPLICATIONS FOR CONFERENCES OF ALL KINDS, BUT WILL GIVE PRIORITY TO MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCES THAT:
•    Address issues affecting Canadians and citizens of Ottawa;
•    Engage local government representatives, NGOs, the private sector, students, and the general public;
•    Promote linkages with local academic institutions.  

WHO CAN APPLY
The “idea BUILDERS™” conference grant program is open to applications from anyone — individuals and organizations such as think tanks, chambers of commerce, professional organizations, NGOs, and local, regional and national associations — who wish to hold a multidisciplinary public conference in Ottawa.

GRANT DECISIONS AND DISBURSEMENTS
The OCC will convene a peer review committee comprised of experts from multiple disciplines to assess grant applications. All applicants will be notified in writing about the results, normally within 90 days of submitting their applications. Grant money will be dispersed to winning applicants as milestones are reached.

GRANTS AND HOW THEY CAN BE USED
Applicants may request up to $10,000 to help defray the direct costs of the proposed conference. Direct costs include facility rentals, administration and marketing but do not include salaries, overhead or stipends. Grants may be given in the form of cash or in a combination of cash and in-kind services. The conference must be held at the OCC and in the year stipulated in the application.
